Home is where the heart is

So...we are in the middle of an intensive house search. We have been for almost 2 months now. Now anyone who isn't named Vanderbilt will tell you that a house search is often about compromise. Want a great location? Prepare to reduce the expectations of the house that your budget is happy with. Want a fantastic, newly built house in your price range? Be willing to put in that extra commute time.

Because my wife and I were not trust fund babies or recent recipients of the state lottery, we are finding that we will have to make some compromises on our upcoming house purchase. We have seen many houses we love, and Raleigh has an abundance of newly built houses, but they require more commute times to her work and my school than we are happy with. Do you think anyone would notice if I installed some of these and just lived in the MBA lounge?

We've looked at 60-70 houses so far and while 95% have been really nice, a few have left us utterly creeped out. One house in particular was really nice on the outside but when we went inside it was a different story. I don't have time to describe everything we saw in detail but this one item should give you an idea of the horrors that lurked inside. On the couch were homemade, hand sewn, fox-skinned (or very possibly cat) pillows. How do I know they were homemade? Trust me, they were. Commercial pillows tend to have straight stitching, aren't patched together from misshaped pieces, and are not actively involved in the shedding process. I wonder why it has been on the market for so long? Seemed cozy.

  1. I like the title, and I have exactly the same feeling.

I have beening moving around for several years. What bothers me most the "home". It's so difficult to find a comfortable room especially with certain budget.

The furnitures look awesome. I would like to have one in office in the future, but I quite doubt about the reliability.

  2. Fortunately we finally found a house so it will be nice to be settled down in a month's time. Thanks for commenting!
